Angling As well as being renowned for its golf, Troon also provides anglers with some excellent sport. Troon Angling Club is based at Collenan Reservoir, a well run and productive water. Highly thought of by its members, it is also open to non-members by day ticket and visitors always look forward to a return trip.
Collenan Reservoir is a fly only water which fishes well throughout the season. The club stocks their water regularly with quality rainbow trout ranging between one and a half and three pounds. Brown trout were introduced recently, with fish of up to six pounds now being recorded. Buzzers do well early season and Kate McLaren, Bibio and Black & Green Fritz are firm favourites. Another guaranteed catcher is the "HT Special", bit only a few lucky anglers heve ever been gifted one.
If you feel the need to brush up on your skills, the club is lucky enough to have a S.A.N.A. registered casting instructor as a member and tuition can be given with prior arrangement.
A few minutes drive from Troon is Prestwick Angling Club's Raith Reservoir. This water is also stocked regularly with Rainbow Trout and is open to non-members, catering for both fly and bait fishers. Both waters do not allow catch and release and the limit for both is four fish.
Ayrshire is home to numerous well run fisheries offering good sport all year round, with Brown Trout, Rainbows, Steelheads and for visiting coarse fishers, Carp, Roach and Tench.
Troon also offers some reasonable shore fishing. A favourite mark is the Ballast Bank, which can produce Pollock, Doggies, Mackerel, Conger and the odd Codling throughout the summer months.
With so much sport on offer, Troon wishes all its anglers tight lines and screaming reels! |

French Tuition French Classes
French for Children: Why not try French for your child? I'm a native speaker, member of "La Jolie Ronde" an organisation which has been successfully offering French Classes in Primary Schools and Nurseries throughout Scotland over a number of years with fantastic results. The activities are fun, structured and follow tested programmes with the highest quality teaching resources and methodology which complements what is taught in the curriculum at P6 &P7.
French for Adults: In each class, we learn some vocabulary and grammar first and then have games, speak and try little scenarios. Groups should not be bigger than 12 in order to keep everyone active enough and therefore improve speaking skills along with listening skills. Each class will focus on one theme (for example: introducing yourself, food and ordering at the restaurant, finding your way, news in France, etc...) and ideally, the group decides what themes we will be working on.

Hockey Marr College Parents have come together to form the Marr College Hockey Group - we are trying to save Hockey at Marr.
The teachers who have generously donated their time and efforts to co-ordinate the Hockey - fielding at least 8 teams each week - the only authority school playing in a league of private schools can no longer give of their time and whilst are helping us co-ordinate ourselves and guide us in the right direction, will be stepping back and leaving the running to the parents.
